The Dead Words is a project started by Karen To that celebrates “Dead Words.” They have been omitted from the dictionary and people barely use them, but she is bringing them back to life. Typography and graphics are used in interesting ways to educate the masses on the meaning of these “dead words.” Enjoy other DEAD WORDS projects HERE

School has started so I have been away swamped with work but I thought I’d share these with you all. So I’m sure that everyone remembers their family photos growing up.  Every year, photos were taken to commemorate growth.  The Marvellini Brothers from Milan Italy use Marvel Comic characters and fuse them into the family photos.  Each piece stands as its own unique form, united around a solid concept. According to The Marvellini Bros. ‘The original idea was to transform some old vintage photos into historical ancestors of the Marvel Superheroes.  These family photos are different but pretty cool.  Check em out.

Wow! Its has been a little under 3 weeks and I am approaching 1,500 hits for the blog.  Thats great and I am glad that you all are enjoying what you see.  Thank You to everyone that has supported the site and please believe that this is only the beginning.  All the supporters around the world in Germany, Canada, Israel, United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Philippines, France, Columbia, Switzerland, Ireland, and Mexico Thank You.  I really appreciate it.  If I could say Thank You in all of those languages I would.  More to come soon, I Promise.

Ok so I have finished the Cincinnati Skyline commission just now.  Its been a couple weeks and I have knocked this one out.  Knowing myself, I probably will go back and add EVEN MORE details to it.  The edges still need to be painted and a clear coat added.  The client gave me the go ahead and approval so thats a good sign.  Let’s start the next one.  Enjoy.

I apologize, these pictures were taken with my cell phone (not the greatest) and the lighting in my apartment is not that great as well.  Next piece on its way.  Stay Tuned for Updates and thanks for the support it means a lot.

Peace,

JJ

So I just watched this Being Elmo Documentary about Kevin Clash and his puppeteer career as Elmo.  He started off dreaming about working with Puppet Legend Jim Henson (RIP) and he made this dream a reality.  Great movie and inspiration for us Dreamers. Watch the trailer:

Kevin Clash holds many positions with Sesame Street now, still a puppeteer, but also Puppet Master, Producer, and the list goes on.  Salute to Kevin Clash. This movies is a must watch

Elizabeth Catlett Mora, was an American-born Mexican sculptor and printmaker and all around Renaissance woman. Catlett is best known for the black, expressionistic sculptures and prints she produced during the 1960s and 1970s, which are seen as politically charged.  She passed away yesterday April 2nd, 2012 at the age of 95, she was approaching her 96th birthday on April 15th.  She was another artist that was greatly inspiring and her work is awesome.  She worked in basically every media, proficiently, that admirable.  Enjoy the work I’ve posted and RIP Elizabeth Catlett Mora, your work will live on forever with us.

From Sculpture, to lithographs, to woodblocks, to painting, she was talented in everything.  Amazing! RIP

As I sit here at 2:37Am eastern standard time.  I have completed the underpainting of the Cincinnati Skyline piece that I’m working on.  Color will be added next.  Check out the photos. More to come soon.

Color Coming Soon Stay Tuned.  I appreciate the support of my blog and my work, it means a lot.

Peace,

Jarrett
