The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 5,000 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 8 years to get that many views.
Diamond Inside follows a collective of mural artists from Madrid called Boa Mistura, during their trip to Cape Town, South Africa. The camera follows their time living and interacting with the people from Woodstock and Khayelitsha: a slumtown where lives dwell between the high rates of poverty and AIDS. Boa Mistura represents their own message to the people of Africa, through several murals on different buildings, intending to instill a mindset to get out of the deepest poverty, aiming to “promote change surrounding yourself with images and colors that reflect what you want to achieve”,to future generations. Check out the pictures
This is very powerful stuff and a movement that is inspiring youth all over South Africa right now. Kudos to the artists, because this is a dope project. Hopefully we can all find the diamonds inside of us.

About Boa Mistura
BOA MISTURA, creative collective born in late 2001, develops its work in different fields: from the most developed tendencies within graffiti and mural art in the streets to illustration, graphic design or more traditional paintings. BOA MISTURA, meaning “good mixture” in portuguese, is about love for graffiti, color and life, through the diversity of styles and points of views brought forward by each member of the group. Different perspective complimenting and influencing each other to come up with something better every time. Five heads, ten hands, one heart.
Since J Dilla is one of my favorite producers/DJs of all time, I thought that this figurine was pretty awesome and wanted to share it with you all. Shouts to Phil Young Song for a dope design. The figurine is set to be released by the J Dilla Foundation sometime this year.
It doesn’t take much to gain my interest when I hear about a Spike Lee Joint coming out. He is one of my favorite directors to ever do it. Positive message, dope art direction, and all around smooth aesthetic. This should not disappoint. The movie poster is cool as well. Red Hook Summer opens to limited release August 10. I hope its coming to ATL.
I have been commissioned by someone to paint Nippert Stadium (18″ x 24″ Oil on Canvas), which is the football stadium at The University of Cincinnati. It is also my alma mater. I remember all of the games that I attended and the fun that was had. Not to mention the tackle football in the snow. Here are some progress images of the painting. I am still in the underpainting stage. It is starting to take shape, more to come soon.
So I know I blogged about this back in January when everything was being set up for the show. I was selected and had the opportunity to show some of my art on this season of Single Ladies. I have attached some screen shots from the episode and I even attached the full episode here as well. I still am in disbelief that it actually got air time. I am humbled and blessed to have an opportunity like this and I am glad that the painting has been so well received. More to come very soon. I promise. “Homage Ali/Basquiat” Oil Mixed Media on Board 2011 – Jarrett Jamison
Artist James Blagden and animator Phillip Niemeyer of Double Triple, collaborated in order to create the original animation and integrate it into evolving cuts of the film Beats Rhymes & Life a Documentary about Legendary Hip Hop Group A Tribe Called Quest. The title sequence breaks out of the black and white and sets the tone for the film with a Tribe-inflected, technicolor palette. In other words, this is awesome.
This isn’t the video but this is their style. Check out more of Double Triple HERE and James Blagden HERE
OK, This guy is AMAZING! Tom Lane, English Designer, Illustrator and Typenut is super inspiring. He designs everything by hand which keeps us honest. Check out his work HERE I have posted images of the New Air Jordan Year of the Dragon Special Edition Shoes that he helped design, as well as the packaging. #DOPE
Mad props to you man. Keep em Comin! I gotta step my game up.
Ok, so being in Ad School and studying principles of Design and Art Direction calls for some knowledge of the Pantone Color System. This was an awesome way to have fun with it. Props to David Marsh. Check out More covers HERE
